Big Epic

This week I have some big epic news! A couple weeks ago I asked President at interviews if he would put me in a biking area. All of the areas with cars have bike racks and bikes to use when its warm outside, but I wanted the real deal, hard core biking only area! He pointed outside to the snow and ice outside and said, "what would your mother think if I let you bike in that?!" He gave me all these reasons why I probably wouldn't be able to, but he was really happy to hear that I wanted to bike because most sisters don't want to.

Then guess what happened?! On Tuesday we found out that I was going to get transferred. We didn't think I would because Sister Johnson had one transfer of training left. Then on Wednesday morning president called and told me that I was going to open up a new area in Northville! Just wait it gets even better! Then he said I'm opening the first Sister biking area in the mission! Yayayayayay that's so cool! I feel like a legend. We are sharing a car with the elders right now. On Mon, Tue, and Wed we will be on bikes, but we'll have the car the rest of days. This is the first time they've ever done this! I feel special being the one to test it out. So it's more like a half biking area, but it's as close as I'm gonna get!

I'm training Sister Fox who is from Lehi! We went to high school together and graduated the same year. She was on the mountain biking team so this is gonna be so much fun with her! I think it's so crazy that we're companions! She's awesome.

Northville is the cutest place ever! In Flint I really grew to love the people immensely, but I didn't always love the place. Some differences of Northville is that there are huge mansion houses everywhere and no abandoned buildings! It's like those fancy houses by the Draper temple in Utah! There are tons of good stores like REI and Trader Joe's :) in Flint all they have is dollar stores, KFC, and McDonalds. There aren't any cars with dents or bumpers half falling off and it doesn't smell like pot everywhere! There aren't any people walking on the side of the road to go to the liquor store and I haven't seen a single marijuana store! Our apartment is brand new and super nice! There's a fitness center at our apartment complex and we have the gym all to ourselves in the morning! And there's a tennis court! We also went exploring to the state park that's just a few miles away! Since the mission home is in our area we went there on Saturday and got priesthood blessings from president.

I feel like I have to re-learn how to socialize with people and work with the ward because it is so different than Flint. Our ward is so awesome though! On Sunday we didnt have to introduce ourselves to anyone because they all just came up to us first! I'm not kidding about learning to socialize with people again. I just don't understand these rich people problems. I'm use to talking to black people in the hood! Nobody has said finna or flustrated and its weirding me out! And they actually listen to us and stay on topic during our lessons! It's crazy!

Opening a new area and training has made me feel a little overwhelmed. The scripture that has helped me is Mosiah 24:14 about how when we rely on the savior he can make our burdens light. I know that is true!
I love you all!
