Miracles by the Dozen
Hello friends and family!
We had such a great week! We have two people on date for baptism and we are teaching 7 other people! We hit all of our goals for the month of March and for the week! The work isn't slowing down at all! I'm even more exhausted at the end of the day than when we could go out tracting!
Carina is going to be baptized hopefully in April if everything goes to plan. She is a nurse and has 3 little boys! She told us that even though she is going through the hardest and worst thing that has ever happened to her, she feels happier and more peaceful than she ever has in her whole life! I sent her the talk "Joy and Spiritual Survival" by President Nelson about how the our joy doesn't come from the circumstance of our lives, but from the focus of our lives. She loved it! We taught her the word of wisdom yesterday and our ward mission leader was able to join us. We were kind of worried about it because we thought she probably drank coffee. Turns out she had researched the word of wisdom on her own before referring herself to the missionaries and has been living it for 2 months already! We were like what?! What else do you already know?! She is so prepared! The lesson went really well and she told us about how it was really hard to quit coffee for the first week, but now she doesn't even think about it!
Ryan is hopefully going to be baptized in May. She's so awesome! She's really sad that school is cancelled for the rest of the year since she didn't get to say goodbye to some of the preschool kids she helps teach. Even though she has migraines all the time she always has a smile on her face and is the most optimistic person ever! She already invited some of her friends to her baptism and we haven't even scheduled a time for it yet! Talking with Ryan is always my favorite part of the day!
We're also teaching a really funny guy name Seamus. He doesn't really believe in God, but he grew up religous. We asked him to read the intro to the Book of Mormon and he ended up reading through the intro all the way to 1Nephi 3! He prayed for the first time in a super long time with us over the phone last week and he said he would pray to know if God is aware of him. He's super open to it all and genuinely wants to know the truth so I'm super hopeful for this guy.
Sister Perez has been doing spanish class with the spanish speaking Elders to help them learn Spanish better. It's really fun for me cause I just do whatever I want to or I take a nap sometimes. I'm trying to pick up some spanish, but they talk really fast! We had two lessons with people in Spanish this week! I just sit there and smile and read scriptures in English when Sister perez tells me to. During one of our lessons I felt the spirit so strongly even though I couldn't understand anything! It was such a cool experience!
We got to call into a Sunday school class for young adults yesterday and we talked about prayer! It was exactly what I needed! That morning I had prayed and felt such an overwhelming feeling of peace come over me. I know that Thomas S Monson was right when he said that prayer is the passport to peace! Peace is the only feeling that Satan cannot mimick! I love this scripture in John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
Love you all!
