Week 3 of Quarantine
Hi everybody!
Tomorrow will be the start of week 4 in quarantine! We might get another companion this week so that will be fun! I'm not going crazy, yet. Sometimes we have some good conversations with people on Facebook! Other times I end up blocking them because they're creepy and ask if they can marry me. I got the weirdest compliment last week! They said "hello beautiful white dove sent from heaven." Sister Perez and I have been laughing about that all week.
Ryan is doing so good! She wanted to read as much of the Book of Mormon as she could before conference. She couldn't finish it like she wanted to, but she read a ton! She said that she has to force herself to put the Book down because it's so interesting!
Another person we are teaching might have the coronavirus and is in legit quarentine so we have been praying really hard for her. All the Elders got taken out of Detroit because that's a hot spot for the virus I guess. Our mission has lost a lot of really awesome missionaries, but I'm really excited to get more missionaries reassigned here! We'll show em how what the MDM is all about!
We found this guy named Seamus on Facebook a couple weeks ago and he has been reading and praying so good! He said he probably wouldn't have met with missionaries if they had knocked on his door, but because it was over technology he was willing to give it a try! Just another reason why you should put all your lines in the water!
Another approach we are trying this week is family history! I have no idea how to do it, but I'm sure we'll figure it out.
Conference was AMAZING! I was so sad when it was over! It's crazy to think that the last time I watched conference was at the MTC and my dad came and interpreted for some of the devotionals! I loved all of confernce especially the first session! The first session was about everything I've been studying in personal study this week! My favorite talk was Sister Joy D. Jones! When she showed the video of President Nelson answering that little girls question about if being a prophet is hard it was sooo cute! These are some of my favorite quotes from her talk,
"We will not be perfect, but when we strive to follow christ we will always progress"
"The Lord loves effort and effort brings rewards"
"The Lord EXPECTS us to receive revelation"
"We can overcome general confernce overwhelm through personal revelation"
"The Holy Ghost will help us determine what things are expedient"
I know that this is the Lord's work. He will guide us through the Holy Ghost by the prayer of faith to know what to say, what to do, and where to go! He could do his work a lot faster and better without us, but I'm so grateful he let's me participate in it. Sometimes I wish he would just give me all the answers, but in the long run I'm glad he let's me learn on my own. It's a lot more exciting that way! I invite you all to avoid general conference overwhelm with my by praying and asking God what to focus on!
Love,
Sister Butler
