Flint, Michigan
Hi everybody!
I know you all want to know what Harry Potter house I am actually in. Shoutout to Lindsay for helping me take the quiz. It turns out that I'm a gryffindor!
My cute trainer is Sister Timmerman and we are in the Flint North area! Our area is pretty big so we have a car. Some parts are pretty nice and other parts are pretty ghetto.
Here are 10 things I learned about Flint this week:
1. Don't drink the water or else you'll get lead poisoning.
2. Almost everyone we talk to is sick, hence why we only drink bottled water.
3. Trailer parks are scary and people don't like you knocking on their trailer house when it's dark.
4. There are as many squirrels here as there are birds. They're everywhere!
5. If you want to break a personal record of how much roadkill you can see in one day come to Flint!
6. There are bed bugs going around so you should spray your clothes with alcohol and wash them immediately if you suspect you might have bugs.
7. There may or may not be a mosquito disease thing going around. I'm confused about that.
8. Sometimes it feels like the apocalypse because there are so many abandoned houses and buildings.
9. The day before Halloween is called devil's night. People do crazy stuff like burning down the abandoned buildings. They say it turns into the purge.
10. Everyone has cats
I've already met some really wonderful people that take care of us well. We had four of the people we teach come to sacrament meeting so that was awesome! Sister Timmerman and I even sang in sacrament meeting! A lady in the ward said her daughter was trying to smile really big at me because she said I looked terrified. I just thought they were laughing at me so obviously I was a little nervous!
I love the scripture in Helaman 5:12 about building on a strong foundation. I learned that in a hurricane the roof is usually the first thing to fall because it's the farthest away from the foundation. If we stay close to the savior by deepening our conversion to his gospel and being obedient to his teachings we will never fall. I love you all and appreciate all the support you give me! Have a good week!
Love,
Sister Butler

Toshia is sweet and nice. Annette looks kind of scary, but she's also very nice, I think I've proved to her that I am a good missionary. I taught them about the Holy Ghost and after she said, "Sister Tillerman, you've been training her good!" The Sister Tillerman said, "She just came that way!" The photo was taken just outside of their house because most people don't like them to go inside their homes. Tonight Toshia, Nick, and Annette are going to the church for FHE.
