I'm A Trainer!!!
Hello everyone!
Today something very momentous happened! I did the splits! I was just doing my normal stretching routine and all the sudden I was doing the splits! I couldn't believe it! I could only get my left side down, still working on the right. #miraclemonday
Sister Timmerman got transferred to Lorraine, Ohio! Sister Johnson is my new companion and I'm training! I don't really know what I'm doing, but I think it will help me be humble and rely on the spirit in everything we do. We're definitely learning together. President said that God doesn't call people on the ladder, he calls people who are disciples. He also says that I'm like a Dallin H. Oaks, and that he wants to clone me. Go underdogs! I feel a lot of pressure to take care of my little trainee, our crazy ward, and all of our people we are teaching. Doctrine and Covenants 78:18 helped me this week. It says, "And ye cannot bear all things now; nevertheless, be of good cheer, for I will lead you along." So far it's been going pretty well. Sister Johnson is very mature and knowledgeable. She's from England and her dad is in the air force. She doesn't have an accent because she's also lived in the USA off and on. She went to BYU for a year before her mission, and is very artistic and musical.
Sister Johnson experienced some culture shock her first few days here. I tried to take her to nice parts of our area and we taught normal people I thought. Turns out we have a very different perspective of what nice and normal is haha. She's doing a really good job trying to be positive though. Especially since the airport lost half of her luggage.
We are getting ready for Shamyia's baptism this Sunday! Shamyia is so cute and she's caught on really quickly to everything we've taught her. She is so excited to be baptized after seeing Eboney and Cierra be baptized two weeks ago. Last night Shamyia made us what she calls a unicorn smoothie. Its ice, milk, strawberry syrup, marshmallows, whipped cream, and sprinkles all blended up! It tasted pretty good actually!
Some very important lessons I've learned over the last two transfers are:
-Wherever there is service needed, there is always JOY to be found!
-It is better to have confidence in the Lord than myself.
-The bigger the obstacle, the better you'll become!
-The greatest thing you can give to the Lord is your agency. It's the only thing that He doesn't already own.
Sometimes it can be difficult to let the Lord choose our path, but I know that he will lead us to a far better destination than we can on our own. Another scripture I really like is in Isaiah 42:16 "And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them"
Love you all!
