Home Sweet Home
Hello family and friends!
Another weeks has come and gone here in our home sweet home! Reflecting on how I've seen the Lord's hand through all of this has helped me have a better attitude of gratitude.
When I got my mission call I wondered why on earth of all the places was I called to serve a mission in Michigan! And then I wondered why on earth was I put in Flint! I wondered why I was called to be a trainer right out of training and then to open up a new area as a trainer again?! I hadn't even made it to halfway on my mission, and I was already feeling burnt out.
I wanted someone to give me some slack and cut me a break. Well I got it! Heavenly Father has a really good sense of humor! My trainee went home after one week and Sister Perez came along. Little did I know, we would be in self isolation for the next 7 weeks! Wow! It's been such a rollercoaster!
I know that Heavenly Father has a perfect plan for us. In the moment I kept wondering why this and why that?! Looking back, I can see exactly why He put me in those areas and with those companions. Flint taught me how to listen and have compassion for others. Now in Northville Sister Perez has taught me how to take my missionary work to the next level! I'm excited to go outside and talk to people again! Honestly, this time in home sweet home is exactly what I needed. It's grown my patience even more, and I've been able to refine a lot of my skills from slowing things down. I'm so glad that I was called to serve in Michigan. If I had been called to anywhere outside of the country I would probably be home right now. That just blows my mind! I have so much more to learn as a missionary still!
Even my mission President and his wife are perfect for me! President Sorensen loves everything outdoors and is the most down to earth, genuine person, I've ever met. He even let me open a biking area for sisters! This Saturday, President challenged the mission to "lose 500 and give 500" for the month of May! It means we're going to lose 500 pounds as a mission, and we're going to get 500 people at sacrament! They are even going to reimburse all of us to buy scales to weigh ourselves. We're going to report how much weight we've lost to Sister Sorensen every monday. 😂 I'm so excited because I love exercising and eating healthy. Now my companions will have to too! They might hate me by the end of this month, but it's going to be awesome! We're going all out.
There's my little rant for the week! Haha! I love you all and hope you can have an attitude of gratitude this week too!
Love,
Sister Butler :)
