Still in Home Sweet Home

Hello Amigas and Amigos!

The governor extended the stay at home order until June 12th. I wasn't very happy about that, but this week was pretty good. Elder D Todd Christoffersen talked to our mission on Friday! It was so cool! We all joined on zoom and got to see the conference room that the prophet and his apostles meet in every week to make important decisions. The area 70 spoke to us, and some other guy that I can't remember did too.

My favorite part from that meeting was when they talked about increasing our spiritual capacity to receive personal revelation! I've been working on that a lot! He said instead of asking "Why", or "When", we should be asking "What". What would you have me do today? Instead of, why is this happening to me, or when will this end.

We also talked about the doctrine of sacrifice. He mentioned how Abraham had to sacrifice his son because he needed to learn something about Abraham. We've been in home sweet home for almost 3 months now, and I've definitely learned a lot more about who Sister Butler is. He said that we are sacrificing in a way that no other missionaries have ever had to sacrifice. That made me feel pretty special.

Everyone has been freaking out because we are trying to prepare for all these new missionaries to come! Some people are worried that our mission culture is going to be ruined, and others are worried that missionaries will come here and not want to be here. It's kind of scary that all the new missionaries are going to outnumber all of us OG's by more than double! We thought they were going to come gradually, but now they are all coming by the end of July! I'm excited for them. I try to imagine that they are all my best friends coming here.

President Sorensen gave a great discussion about teaching them by our examples, and being led by the spirit. I'm confident that we will continue to be the free-est mission with the highest level of obedience in the world! The reason why is because we believe in being motivated by love, and we find joy in our own conversion and in the conversion of others.

We've found a lot of success the last couple months even though we are stuck inside. I know that this is Lord's work and it cannot be frustrated. Ryan and Carina are going to be baptized this month and we have 2 more who are going to be on date soon. Hope you're all still safe and healthy!

Love,
Sister Butler
