Turning Another Corner

Hello there backyard friends and country critters!

It's been a while since I emailed and a lot has happened since then! Unfortunately, working outside is not one of them. We are still stuck inside for who knows how long. The rest of Michigan is pretty much back to normal now.

We got two really solid referrals! Lisa was a former who the Plymouth sisters were teaching and Cole is a member referral. Coles story is actually really cool. He works for a pest control company and was in Utah for 2 weeks knocking on doors. A family there asked if he was a member of our church and gave him a book of Mormon. They told him that he seemed like the type of person that would be a member! That's really what sparked his interest! When he moved back to Northville his roommate just so happened to be a return missionary who answered a lot of his questions and helped him learn all the lessons! His roommate messaged us one night and said, "Sisters I have someone for you to baptize!" We were so excited! We've met with him twice since then and put him on date for July 18th! I am really hoping that we won't have to give him to the YSA sisters. Fingers crossed because he is so cool!

Facebook Miracle of the week: I made friends with an Indian lady who gave me some good restaurant suggestions. She's super crafty and is going to make me a bookmark for my scriptures! How sweet is that?

Facebook miracle of last week: We met with Darcy who Sis M has been messaging. She is so shy that it took a really long time for her to warm up. She read all of first Nephi in a few weeks and is going to reread it with come follow me just to make sure she understands all of it.

Our friend Abhishek is going to start bringing his family to our meetings! Our invitation to pray to see others as God sees them has really been helping him! He is such a good dad and is starting to pray with his son every night! Families are the best!!

I thought for sure I was going to get transferred, but nope! I get to stay! Northville is literally the best area ever.
Yesterday we had transfers so p-day got moved to Tuesday this week. I'm a Sister Training Leader now! I am so excited for the opportunity to set the standard for the sisters in our zone and to be a good example. I am already thinking of all the ways I can love and serve them! Sister Hill is training me how to be an STL. Tomorrow we're going to pick up our trainee from the airport! Her name is Sister Magill!

I feel pretty inadequate which I know is normal. I keep reminding myself that the Lord works differently than the world. The world would have us think that you must be qualified and have the right skill set before offering the job. The Lord offers the job and then he qualifies us. He doesn't care about our skills or abilities as much as he cares about our hearts. All I know is that I've got the heart of a good leader even if I don't have all the skills yet.

Every transfer I write some of the life lessons I learn in a little notebook that I call my small plates. Here are some things I've learned this transfer:

-The What's of the gospel get redundant, teach them the WHY'S!

-Don't try to fix your problems first because then nobody's problems will get fixed!

-In order to receive blessings we must seek out the laws upon which they are predicated.

-Those who last shall be first spiritually

-endure valiantly: finding satisfaction at your limits

-Charity and love is motivating and empowering. The single greatest driving force in missionary work. It never fails!

Love you all!
Sister Butler
